Pastor Marvyn Oathneal Smith is an ordained minister and former district pastor who has enjoyed twelve fulfilling years of ministry. He has been serving the Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventist as the Youth and Chaplaincy Director from 2011 to present. In 2017 he was appointed to serve as the director for the Public Campus Ministry.
As a departmental director Pastor Smith has championed several innovative youth empowerment projects. Two such youth projects include special empowerment sessions for underperforming high school students as well as a novel “after school educational support program” which received Government sponsorship. With a steady focus on the department’s mantra “Salvation & Service,” Pastor Smith remains focused on the promotion of balanced and holistic development of God’s mighty army of youth.
Pastor Smith’s ministry is defined by his giftedness and strong passion for youth empowerment and evangelism. This passion has opened the doors of many churches, schools, colleges, universities, correctional facilities, and other institutions in several countries where he delivers life changing, Christ-centered motivational messages.
He is happily married to the artistically gifted, Elodie Cage, who hails from the French Island of Martinique. Together they have brought the adorable Eden and the energetic Jared into the world. Pastor Marvyn Smith is an avid reader who enjoys camping, basketball, swimming and landscaping.
His confidence and enthusiasm is powered by Philippians 1:6 -“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
